Before you budget a move

An Oregon comparison should identify the exact work location, residence and compensation arrangement before calculating taxes. The absence or presence of one state tax category does not settle annual household cost. This page uses independently verified prices and housing statistics without inventing a household liability from a headline rate.

For Portland-area or another Oregon destination, compare real lease terms and travel costs. A job across a state border needs a separate tax analysis. The housing price-parity index refers to rental housing prices; it is not a house-sale appreciation series or a forecast for the property you may buy.
